Peer Review Process
Description
Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be prepared in accordance with the Author Guidelines. A manuscript may be returned to the author without scientific assessment if it does not meet all submission requirements, does not follow the prescribed format, or cannot be downloaded reliably.
Submitted manuscripts must represent the original and independent work of the authors. Each new submission will be assessed by the Principal Editor to determine whether it falls within the general scope of the Indonesian Transportation Society Journal (Jurnal Masyarakat Transportasi Indonesia). A manuscript may be rejected without peer review if it lacks sufficient substantive content, exceeds the prescribed word limit, does not comply with the required format, or is poorly presented and difficult to understand.
Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment will be handled by the Principal Editor or an Associate Editor, who will oversee the review process and assess the manuscript's scientific contribution, originality, relevance, and quality of presentation.
After passing the initial screening, each manuscript will be assigned to at least two independent experts for peer review. The journal applies a double-blind peer-review system, in which the identities of the authors are not disclosed to the reviewers, and vice versa. Review comments and reports are confidential and may only be disclosed with the explicit consent of the reviewer concerned.
All manuscripts are subject to peer review. Authors can expect to receive an editorial decision, or an explanation for any delay, within 2–4 months of the manuscript's receipt.
If a revision is requested, the corresponding author must resubmit the revised manuscript within 2–4 weeks, in accordance with the instructions provided by the editor.
The final decision is made by the Principal Editor and/or the Section Editor based on the information and recommendations obtained through the peer-review process.
The journal ensures that manuscripts undergoing review are treated confidentially before publication, in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy.
Types of Editorial Decisions
There are four types of editorial decisions in the peer-review process, as follows.
1. Decline Submission
Following peer review, the manuscript is deemed unsuitable for publication in the Indonesian Transportation Society Journal (Jurnal Masyarakat Transportasi Indonesia).
2. Resubmit for Review
The submitted version of the manuscript is considered unacceptable in its current form and requires major revisions. However, the manuscript demonstrates clear scholarly potential, and the Indonesian Transportation Society Journal is willing to consider a substantially revised version.
Authors are given the opportunity to resubmit the manuscript as a new submission. The manuscript's suitability for publication will remain under consideration until the editors are satisfied that it meets the journal's scope and standards.
Whenever possible, the resubmitted manuscript will be handled by the Associate Editor who previously managed the original submission.
3. Revision
The manuscript requires further changes before a final decision can be made. Authors are requested to revise their manuscripts in response to the comments and recommendations provided by reviewers and editors, and to submit the revised version for further consideration within two weeks of receiving the editorial decision letter, in accordance with the instructions stated in the decision letter.
Authors must also submit a detailed, point-by-point response explaining how each comment and recommendation from the reviewers and editors has been addressed.
Revised manuscripts may undergo further peer review, and more than one round of revision may be required. If the revisions do not satisfy the editors' expectations and standards, the manuscript may still be rejected for publication in the Indonesian Transportation Society Journal.
4. Accept Submission
The manuscript is accepted for publication, subject to any conditions that must be fulfilled before the final version is prepared.
These conditions may include language editing and minor amendments to ensure that the manuscript fully complies with the journal's requirements. Once the final checks have been completed by the editorial office, acceptance will be confirmed, and the manuscript will be forwarded to the publisher for publication.
Galley Proof
Page proofs, or galley proofs, will be sent to the corresponding author for final checking before publication.
Corrections at this stage must be limited to typographical and printing errors. Any other changes to the text, equations, or grammar may incur additional charges to the author.
The proofs must be returned to the editors within three days of receipt to minimize the risk of delaying publication to a subsequent issue.
The editors are not responsible for the accuracy of the content of published articles. Therefore, authors are responsible for checking and verifying the accuracy of the entire manuscript at the proof stage.
